Job Title: OpenLab Development Wrangler
Job Description: The City Tech OpenLab, a new, open-source, digital platform for students and faculty at New York City College of Technology, CUNY, is seeking a Development Wrangler for part-time work.
Development Wrangler:
The Development Wrangler will provide detail management, oversight, and coordination of the OpenLab technology development process. S/he will manage bug reports, respond to users’ technical difficulties, and coordinate development priorities with the OpenLab management team. The Wrangler will also test bug fixes and monitor the progress of the vendor to ensure issues are resolved on schedule. The Development Wrangler will create and maintain public communications (blog) to explain site changes and enhancements to the OpenLab user community.
Ideal candidates will possess the following:
Comfort and familiarity with common Web 2.0 platforms, an understanding of social media sites/apps and/or online spaces such as intranets/extranets; experience with web development lifecycle; strong organizational and communication skills required; must work collaboratively with a team; keen attention to details is crucial.
Experience with the following tools is desired:
HTML/CSS, web sharing and social media sites/apps (Twitter, Flickr, YouTube, Facebook, etc.), WordPress/WordPress Multi-User, BuddyPress, MediaWiki, appropriate use and optimization of rich media (photos, videos, podcasts), image- video- and audio-editing software.
Familiarity and experience with the Academic Commons (http://cunyac.reclaimhosting.dev/) is a plus.
Hours and Pay:
5-10 hours a week. $25/hour.
