Internship: Audiovisual Archiving and Preservation – CUNY TV

cunytvCUNY TV is the largest public university station in the United States. Based at the CUNY Graduate Center, the channel produces and broadcasts unique and educational programs with topics ranging from science, public affairs, business and science. The CUNY TV archive maintains the stations media library, digital assets and the overall production history of the station. The CUNY TV archive is also the home to much of the audiovisual material produced by the City University of New York and the Himan Brown Radio Archive, a collection that includes the personal papers, scripts, photographs and audio-visual material related to the famed radio director and producer.

The CUNY TV archive is accepting intern applications for the spring and summer semster to participate in digital preservation, digitization, collection management, and media cataloging projects. Interns will work with a variety of analog and digital audiovisual formats, help facilitate better access to collections, catalog media with the PBCore metadata standard, learn various command-line tools, and learn how to apply and develop microservices. They will also have the opportunity to work on a number of projects including collection inventory, born-digital processing, access, and assessment along with ongoing audiovisual digitization projects.

Students interested in experiencing how an audiovisual archive functions in a busy broadcast and production environment are encouraged to apply. This internship is for credit only.
