Graduate Assistantship (Employer Relations) – John Jay College

john jayThe Center for Career & Professional Development at John Jay College seeks a part-time, 20 hour per week graduate assistant.

Graduate assistants in the Center for Career & Professional Development gain experience in all aspects of a comprehensive career center by working with a variety of constituents including prospective and current students, alumni, parents, employers, faculty and staff. Graduate assistant responsibilities typically include providing career planning assistance to students via resume/cover letter critiques, internship/job search assistance, delivering career planning presentations, and supporting on-campus recruiting events. Specific assignments can depend on the graduate student’s interests and skills combined with office needs.

Specific focuses may include:

  • Assist employers with common tasks such as creating an online account, posting jobs and internships, or registering for events.
  • Reviewing and revising current career center educational/employer resources, including digital marketing resources.
  • Working with professional staff to create and implement new employer initiatives.
  • Liaise with academic departments, other student affairs offices and student groups to collaborate on employer led events and workshops.
